Serious Question About Twitter

I opened a Twitter account a little while back, just to follow a few comedians & some liberal media people. I have never tweeted but all of a sudden I have two people "following" me. One is promoting Twitter marketing software (this person has yet to tweet as well) and the other (according to Wiki) is a "Liberal" talk show host (that appears to be a Fox News Contributor). I don't use my name or any information about myself on Twitter, so how was I "discovered" by my followers?

I think some look at your username and just follow you because of that justiceischeap Nov 2012 #3
People don't need any info about you to follow you. LancetChick Nov 2012 #4
My attitude is that Twitter is for twits. The 140 character thing is destroying English. HopeHoops Nov 2012 #5

I'm being followed by Catherine Cryer and I think it's cause of my screen name--same as I use here.

For many, the number of people who follow you is the name of the game. It may not start out that way, but that's how things are on Twitter. Whatever you tweet, or don't tweet, you'll get people following you to see if you follow back, and when you start tweeting or following people, Twitter will start recommending you to others to follow. You can always click on the little gear at the top and choose "settings" to make sure your tweets aren't public. When you do that, you must approve anyone who wants to follow you.

When I get an e-mail with "R U gng 2" or something like that in it, I don't bother reading it.
