Agency officials told The Enquirer they are grateful for help, but dont want people including political candidates sending supplies. They would rather have donations of money and blood.
We are not asking for material donations, said Laura Steinmetz, spokeswoman for the South Jersey Region of the organization. Financial donations allow us to quickly and efficiently meet the needs of the people in a disaster. Its far more expensive for us to receive the donated goods, sort them, warehouse them and transport them. So our financial donations are much more cost effective.

(17,528 posts)the news about Katarina and learn something about how to donate to charity. It's much easier to just donate to his church. I wonder how many of his millions he personally donated to the Red Cross?

(51,007 posts)Cans do make for a nice photo op. You know what makes for an even better photo op? A blood drive: Mitt and Anne and the supporters all giving blood.
The Red Cross really needs blood right now. He could have done something legitimate AND gotten the air time, and people like me wouldn't now feel like unhooking his jaw every time we see him.
How dumb do Romney and his flying monkeys have to be not to have asked what was needed? How much hubris can you stuff into one candidate?
