Traditionally, the losing candidate mumbles some stuff about how hard his campaign has fought and worked, and then pledges to "work with" the winner of the election to make the country better.
I cannot see Romney saying anything like the second half of that statement. The anger and bitterness of the Republicans, their behind the scenes nefarious dealings, the voter suppression, and all the rest just makes me feel like there won't be any "work with" stuff in his speech.
So, what does everyone think he will say?

(64,933 posts)a concession speech. Obviously without anything positive towards President Obama, but just the tone of his voice made it sound like a concession speech.

(20,776 posts)Yogi Berra once said, "Its not over, until its over." I will not be thinking about what Mitt says, until and afterwards, when I am assured that President Obama has gotten his second term. I don't trust Republicans not to try and pull some dirty tricks, even to the point of protesting the outcome.
This may take some time. Its my hope there will be a huge landslide in favor of Obama/Biden.. but you know even if that happened the Republicans will squawk so very loud, demanding investigations and confirmation of votes counted.

Leaves stage and never agrees to go on camera or near a microphone again.
The type of personality he has does not admit failure or defeat. He will never make a concession speech or make the concession call to Obama.

(54,067 posts)Actually, I expect him to do a pretty standard concession speech. They always do. When he says the word "congratulate" his crowd will boo in unison, and then he'll wave them down and say "We're all Americans" and such.
No one gets all shitty until mid-November when the Republican House sets about crashing the economy again.

(2,132 posts)I just can't see him losing gracefully.
After trying to buy his way into the presidency for so long, he won't accept losing, particularly not to someone he sees as inferior.
He is going to freak out on election night. I see a huge spoiled-child tantrum exploding out of him.
Let's just hope that he, his pampered wife, and his evil sons disappear after this.

(31,011 posts)I don't think he'll have the same level that McCain had when he lost. If you all remember, McCain was a class act in his concession speech. Love him or hate him, he did do that right. I don't think Rmoney will be able to touch that.

(35,392 posts)I doubt there will be a concession ...
More likely a call to arms because of the stolen election (remember, they're the ones who are infatuated with guns and the "revolutionary/rebel" types, misunderstood as they are about them)
And don't forget ... the "liberally-biased media" SURE LOVES controversial outcomes ...
