WilliamPitt posted today that many of those polls that had Romney waaaaay ahead are shifting towards being too close to call.

When I look at these numbers I see something else.
Some pollsters have started to notice that independent voters, who until recently were leaning toward Mitt Romney, may be trickling back toward President Obama with just days until the election.
Zogby polling has Obama up five points among independents
A national ABC News/Washington Post poll has Obama and Romney tied with independents, at 46%, Romney was at 58% a week and a half earlier.
Politico/GWU tracking poll has it tied with independents week after Romney had a double-digit lead.
After the first debate we saw Romney make huge leaps in polling. He was behind then suddenly he was way ahead. This had continued with the corporate media crying out that it was a tie or Romney was ahead. And they had all this polling to prove it.
What we are seeing now is the corporate rats starting to walk back their support of Romney. To sell ad space this needed to be a close race so they made it one.
But there are only a couple of days left before the election. Only a couple of days to suddenly shift back to the truth before they are proved to have been wrong. Their news was wrong, their pundits were wrong, their polling was wrong. Corporate Media sold its soul to keep this a close race, to tip the balance toward the corporate candidate, but it didn't work.
And then they were four days before the election with polling numbers showing Romney with 58% or 10+ points ahead. Their reputations are at stake.
You can't let your last poll numbers, your last reports, your last pundits all be 100% wrong the day of the election so they are all putting out new numbers. Obama a little bit ahead or a tie that is too close to call.
We will be hearing a lot of "The numbers were very off. Sandy really moved the people back to Obama." But the truth is, the people were always with Obama.
And for this reason we will see a lot of "close" elelctions and "100% red wins" that were not close at all and some of those sure red seats in the Senate and Congress are going to be a surprise Blue.
And the corporate media is going to pretend that they were right all along...even though they were lying the entire time.

(129,458 posts)to even give themselves some sort of exit hatch to walk it all back. And the only thing that they seem to have left is Hurricane Sandy because by golly, Gallup has certainly used that excuse for halting their polling all this week (they were supposed to start it back up Thursday which would make today a possible restart with a 3-dayer, but too late - their credibility is toast).

(4,359 posts)That's the pity of it. They will run with that and the media will follow suit because they look just as stupid!

The media must break toward Pres. Obama now or lose what little credibility they have left.
