(60,010 posts)which is only 39 feet above sea level.
That is measuring the downtown close to the bay elevation, but still, I much prefer my current home, which is 439 feet.

(60,010 posts)I tried to dig a flower bed.
Dug a couple feet down, and the next day the flower bed had water in it.
And the next rain that hit, all my expensive flowers and carefully blended soil and peat moss floated away.
So I bought an African violet and called it my garden.

(29,414 posts)I knew my apartment was around 60-65 feet above sea level, just from looking at topo maps of the area (nearest benchmark is at 64'.) The site pegs us at 75', so that may be due to how built-up the lot is. There's a good eight-foot difference between our courtyard and the street.
I might even be able to use this site in my field of mapping (although we use surveyor data and DEM maps primarily.)
dixiegrrrrl
(60,010 posts)and lots of good stuff I have not explored yet.

(15,435 posts)AND I don't really want to talk out loud, but we have been so very lucky this year. We even got enough rain to get out of a long time drought.
Having said that, I have to add... we still are ever vigilant!
