I live in Montgomery Co., PA, haven't had power, no heat, no hot water, but did have nice COLD water, no cooking, Since Monday. I am happy as a lark. I stood outside at the curb as the PECO guys, 5 trucks, drove down my street. I was clapping, don't know if they even saw me it was dark, but I wanted to let those guys know how much I appreciated their work. YEA. Haven't had news about the storm except short walks to my car to listen on car radio to KWY Philadelphia, another yea!. Had some minor problems with PC but got that fixed and DU is the first website I visited. Maybe it's an anticlimax, But I'm warm and happy now. Only damage was 2 trees down but they TG fell in my yard an didn't hit anything but the ground.

(28,627 posts)we were lucky it just went out for a few minutes and then went back on. We were not so lucky with the trees though. Last year we lost power for days. Glad to see you back!

It's amazing how much we take simple things like power and hot water for granted...enjoy your return to "normal" glad you are safe

(1,113 posts)It was like you're on a long trip and just can't wait to get home. Well for me, this is home because I love reading the comments, shaking my head in agreement. Sigh! Thank you. Now a warm bath if the water hot yet, then bed. I can take the layers of blankets off, laughing at that, you should see all the blankets. lol

(9,875 posts)Running on generator which woildnt be so bad if it were not for the gas lines. Waited 3.5 hrs today for 10 gal which will last a little over one day. But 6 tankers sailed into reopened Ny harbor this morning with gas and Nj refineries are dry again and back nonlinear as of today so that should improve in a day or two. As for power there are so many trees and poles down that it will be slow tho every day I hear about more areas coming hack.

(2,176 posts)Whenever I would complain about my electric bill my 86 year old mother would say, "just wait until you try the switch and it doesn't come on. Then you will pay anything for it". She was old enough to remember life without electricity.

(11,700 posts)We have a gas stove and gas water heater and my smart phone for internet. That's made it doable so far. I haven't worked all week and have not been able to contact anyone from the company I work for. But hey, others have been through much worse.

(819 posts)Don't experiences like this make you have a new appreciation for things that we so often take for granted? Like a heated home, hot water, lights, a roof over your head, etc.? I know that the challenges that I have faced these past few years have given me a new DAILY sense of deep gratitude for many things that I had, in the past, usually taken for granted.
Congrats on getting your power back on!
