I've been soaking up the video and photos of our President as Comforter-in-Chief. Just eating them up with a spoon. They're so incredibly restorative, warm, compassionate, reassuring, sympathetic. Comforting like gangbusters!!! I just love this man. His heart is as big as all outdoors. He connects so deeply and totally. You can tell he genuinely does - pardon the cliche - feel your pain. I was looking at this one set of photos of that gray-haired lady he hugged for several moments and talked to, one-on-one, and then spoke to others while still keeping his arm around her. She'd just lost everything in the storm. Everything!!!! She was bereft and exhausted and overwhelmed, you could tell. She was nestled under his arm and looked like she was hanging on for dear life. And I thought - man, I'll bet that made a world of difference to her, just that brief personal touch. A WORLD of difference. A strong hug from strong arms during a very vulnerable time. I'll bet it helped boost her battered morale - even if only just a little. A WORLD of difference.
Makes me proud. I'm so proud of my President, the class he has, the heart he has, the brain he has, the common touch he has, the professionalism and focus he has. He is freakin' IMPRESSIVE. At his best at our time of need! He makes me proud. I'd vote for him a thousand times if I could!!!
