Ok I am a staunch democrat but seriously, I don't want to vote for Critz. Please tell me why I should vote for him. If he would lose, democrats could run a REAL Democrat the next time. Thoughts?

but I don't feel there is much difference between the two, honestly.

(129,111 posts)Thank goodness for my Congressman here in Philly.
Ironically, the pundits assumed that when Murtha died, his seat was a rethug shoo-in and apparently that was not to be.

(7,939 posts)There is more "dark money" -- campaign spending from groups that don't have to disclose their donors -- in the PA12 race outside Pittsburgh than in any congressional race in the country, according to figures released today from the nonpartisan Sunlight Foundation.
Most of the $3.3 million in funding has gone to support Republican challenger Keith Rothfus in the race through attack spots on Democratic incumbent Mark Critz. Outside spending in that race (and a surge of Senate and presidential ads) have made the Pittsburgh market the fifth-most advertised in the country.
The barrage of ads is taking a toll on Critz's supporters in organized labor. Leo Gerard, the president of the United Steelworkers union, addressed the race at a Downtown rally this morning, after returning from a barnstorming tour of Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio for Barack Obama.
"When this election was called, Mark Critz was about 14 points ahead. The guy running against him, if you watch local televison, you'll probably puke," Gerard said. "If you get the local television you'll get three anti-Critz ads in a row from three unnamed secret groups. They have spent more money in this congressional district this cycle than they probably spent in all Pennsylvania congressional districts last cycle."

(1,215 posts)not Rothfus ads. I know I don't like Rothfus but if Critz is going to vote like a Republican, I don't feel there is much difference and that it might be the best way to get a progressive in on a future election. We are not going to get the house anyway.

(55 posts)I live in Mark Critz's district and I will be voting for Critz, but his ads piss me off. In one ad he says that the Obama EPA is killing the coal and Marcellis gas industry and he will fight to stop it. In another ad he says that he and Keith Rothfus agree on many things and then names them. WTF! It is true that someone is spending large amounts of money on negative ads against Critz.

(1,215 posts)no matter what. Rothfus is so extreme we can use his votes and his statements against him and get a true progressive the next election. If we keep voting Critz in, how are we going to get rid of him?

(12,322 posts)At this point, you're either going to vote for him or you aren't.
Please stop asking the same questions over and over again. It just makes your queries look disingenuous.

(1,215 posts)I hear about how extreme Rothfus is but I also know that Critz isn't any better. Is there anyone in PA that would primary Critz in the next election?
