I voted for Democrats today because:

- Global climate change is real and I’d like my children and grandchildren to avoid suffering the climactic catastrophes that are to come if we don’t change our ways.

- I live on a beautiful lake, and I’m not willing to allow industry to further pollute our air, the water we drink, and our countryside due to corporate greed.

- We need to move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy for the health of our earth, the health of our bodies, and for national security.

- I can’t vote for a man who lies – repeatedly and with ease as though it were second nature to him.

- I can’t vote for a man who claims to be able to help the American worker, yet is the master at helping profitable American companies move to China to further line the pockets of rich owners.

- I can’t vote for a man who hides his millions of dollars in offshore accounts so that I have to pay more to cover his share of taxes.

- I don’t want our educational system privatized, because then only those born of wealth will be properly educated.

- I am a product of public schools and public universities that were affordable for my parents, people of limited means.

- I’m tired of war, and of war profiteering.

- Many children I know have preexisting medical conditions, and will never be denied health care coverage, unless Obamacare is overturned.

- People shouldn’t have to lose everything they’ve worked their whole lives for when they get ill and have no health insurance.

- I have paid into Social Security and Medicare for almost 40 years, and I want that insurance there for me in my old age, not given into the hands of Wall Street to be used to line its pockets, like it was there for my grandmother, who was frugal, but able to live on her own despite working a low-wage job well past retirement age.

- I’m tired of a Republican Congress that had as its primary goal to defeat President Obama instead of working for the good of the American people.

- I don’t want to pay more in taxes, subsidizing the billionaire owners of Wal-Mart, who refuse to part with some of their billions so that their employees’ children can be covered by healthcare and instead, need Medicaid.

- People need the strong safety net of Medicaid, welfare, food stamps, and unemployment to help them when they are ill, out of work, or suffering.

- Being pro-life doesn’t stop at being against abortion, but includes helping people with family planning, teaching sex education that explains how to avoid pregnancy, providing WIC for poor women with young children, providing funds for children after they are born, and educating and caring for those with disabilities.

- Because Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, and therefore we are our brothers’ keepers. We are our brother’s keepers. We are our brothers’ keepers.
