I've got a long-time client that I promised to send an invoice to upon completing a project just before the storm on Friday, and I haven't wanted to even send it ... fearing both that she's in a panic and has no electricity to get it anyway. But I could stand to get paid already (the project took five months).

up during the storm. So (and only going by living in the neighborhood for 30 years) I think that if the Village is getting power then the the rest will get it too. Maybe Lower lower Manhattan might come later due to actual flooding of sub-stations there and not because of 14th Street... but this is a BFD!!!

So happy you will soon be getting back to normal (once you've thrown the rotten food out of the fridge). Hot showers! Lights! Computers! Television! Cooked food!

We had a couple of blackouts here over the past few months, and just going seven hours made me a little crazy. I suppose you get into the groove after the first 24 hours or so, but living without electricity in today's world is really, really tough.

East Village Power On After Days Of Con Edison Work To Fix Outages From Hurricane Sandy

Power was restored to a portion of the East Village Friday afternoon after nearly four days in darkness following Hurricane Sandy.

The power filled the East Village and Lower East Side from Canal Street to 14th Street, from Broadway to the East River, according to Con Edison.

That amounts to approximately 67,000 customers, officials said.
