I make an effort to "get along" with my neighbors....Hello and goodbye have frequently been the sum total of our exchanges. 
The DogsAgainstRomney sign is in a flower box off the porch, but the Obama sign is in the middle of the front lawn.
Apparently I have a real right-wing knucklehead in my neighborhood. One day I found a two-sided, single-spaced letter in my mailbox about the evils of Obama. Last week, binder-clipped to my sign was 11 double-sided (some even in color!) hate-filled pages of nonsense insulting just about everyone in some way, shape, or form. They even thoughtfully included a picture of a fetus in the womb and the preambles to almost every state constitution that include the word "God".
I left a small note taped to my sign thanking them for the clip, "One can never have too many of these.", and telling them they and their hate-filled, offensive literature were not welcome on my private property. I also suggested they get some help because it would make them feel better.
In '08 someone drove across my lawn so they could take out the sign. Too lazy to get out of the car I guess, or it was displaced road rage.
It amazes me that some who profess their undying devotion to Jesus can be so filled with hate. 
I'm sorry you have such a neighbor on the block. It's a little frightening that someone thinks you might be on a crusade against his god because of your political stripe.
Makes me want to add another sign at the corner I'm waving at tomorrow... "Yes, We ARE better off!"
