This election is truly insane

- That a candidate has such high support after insulting 47% of Americans pretty thorougly (not some slip of the tongue.)

- That many claim to vote for Romney based on the economy even though the economy under Obama is coming back (just because it isn't fast enough!? Like Obama has godlike powers over the economy!)

- That nearly half of voters will vote for basically Herbert Hoover / George W Bush back in again 4 years after the depression hit (voting the party that caused the great recession back in!)

- That many even vote based on the economy because the Media (and ads) told them to do so.

- That so many women will vote for Romney and basically throw other women under the bus (or that they don't know just how close it is to personhood being given to fetuses which will basically make abortion illegal!)

- That the reason that the clear majority of the nearly half of voters that will vote for Romney is because they are brainwashed dittoheads of Rush Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, etc... and/or that they want to kick the black guy out of office (which is probably why they believe that he's a Muslim Socialist that wants to make America into a communist state) which in themselves are an army of idiots that are as dangerous as an insane person with a weapon (in terms of their ability to ruin this country.)

- That a candidate has such high support even though it has been pressed time and time again how their supposed plan was created basically out of thin air with no basis in reality (Romney claims to bring down the deficit when his plan will add trillions to the deficit.)

- That undecideds still consider voting for Romney even though they know how dishonest and two-faced he is.

Patriotism should be earned, not entitled, and this election is surely a demoralizer in terms of patriotism to this country (because we are held captive by a massive population of idiots). The only patriotism left is patriotism based on the past, not on the present.

3. If the repugnant goons had a decent candidate, it would have been difficult, maybe impossible

To reelect Obama.

Unemployment like this, even if it's not his fault usually get the president defeated at reelection.

On the other hand, the makeup of the repugnant goon party today makes it difficult for them to choose a decent candidate. A true right wing nutjob is unlikely to win the general election and a true moderate is unlikely to get the nomination.

Unfortunately, Romnesia's willingness to twist himself into new positions and then lie about it makes him the perfect candidate for today's republican party. Unless something changes in the next four years, the pugs will have another lying shape shifter as their candidate in 2016.

Romney's establishment power and personal fortune in manipulating the narrative is probably higher than any other Republican candidate out here. In two election cycles the base wanted a conservative, but the majority of the party chose the most moderate of all the candidates in the field; McCain then Romney. Romney was the moderate from mass. that the tea party hated and everyone was the anti-romney right up until the day when he was the nominee. Then everyone fell in line. You'd need someone with the ability to lie as frequently and shamelessly as Romney. That is the candidate they got, the one with the best chance against Obama in the general, and the one willing to go all out to lie to 99% of the American people that his policies will benifit them.

Also, Obama has beaten some pretty tough competition, including Hillary Clinton. So who knows how someone else would have faired. Who else on the Republican side is a decent candidate? Bobby Jindal? Each have so many skeletons in the closet that the minute one of the other republicans became a frontrunner all their garbage started coming out.

2. In the "polls", Obama v. Rmoney ABSOLUTELY HAS to be "too close to call".

Up to and including the very last minute...
1) in order to sell absolute MAXIMUM political ads through M$M, and
2) So the GOP can steal the election, and point back to the "polls" to
cover their felonious asses.

4. That's the beauty of Nate Silver and the other aggregators

They take a lot of small leads and turn them into a big lead.

They will question election theft from a statistical standpoint because their reputations and livelihood depend on them being accurate. This gives them reason to speak out if they think fraud has occurred.

This may be the real reason that conservatives are hating on Silver so bad. He and his competitors will call them on their bullshit.

7. And speaking of Nate Silver

Let's assume there are only about 150 million eligible voters in this election. That is a conservative estimate. Further, let's assume that only half of those vote. That's 75,000,000. Nate Silver is currently predicting that Obama has the popular vote by a 2.1% lead. Let's say 2%. Two percent of 75,000,000 is 1,500,000. According to Nate Silver's current projection then, President O. could win the popular vote by a million and a half votes and has over an 80% chance of winning the election with more than 300 electoral votes. Is the election over? No. Is the current trend encouraging for Robme? Definitely not!

If there are any statistics junkies out there who wish to correct my math or my assumptions, please feel free. I'm pretty sure any honest corrections would only result in a bigger edge for President O.

9. Barack Obama has dark skin.

I am a construction guy. For the most part I love the work, the challenges of building.
I like most of my fellow construction workers. Most here in So Az are non union as there is no union presence here.
Many are pot smokers or ex-cons as construction is the last frontier in the emploment world. If you are good at what you do,
the boss could care less. But many are bigoted. Not only against blacks (very small AA population in construction around here),
but also against Hispanics who they view as a threat to their jobs (cheaper pay).
The guys I know understand that I am an Obama guy, but I still see and hear their prejudices.
The fact that PBO is only half white is enough for many of them to be against him. The silver lining is that most don't vote (or can't).
Racism is the number one underlying issue to many repubs.
