Another moment of hmmmmm...

Back in early '08 a friend, who had just entered her 40s, mentioned that she'd never voted. Being curious, and more than a little surprised, I initiated a conversation about the importance of voting. It was an interesting chat, given that she's quite adamant about her opinions; but I did let her know that her opinions would have a bit more credibility if she had the courage to back them up. A few days later she called to say she'd thought about the things we'd talked about, and that she'd gone to the county clerk's office and registered to vote. She made it a point to mention that she'd registered as a Republican, I made it a point to welcome her to the conversation.

She went all gung ho for McCain-Palin, and we had a few heated discussions about the candidates. She fell in with those who were demeaning "book smart" as opposed to "street smart", and she's managed to drop the occasional Obama snark here and there; part of that comes from her dad, a right-winger with whom she's been working to reconcile. This year she's gone out of her way to post every Fox news anti-Obama dig on my facebook wall; I just delete them, there are sufficient numbers of truth-telling posts to negate any need for getting into an argument.

A couple of weeks ago she stopped posting anything about Romney. Then today she changed her profile pic to the one shown below. No comment, no explanation. Hmmmmm...
