What I was thinking ...........

In my profession with some income commission based, it is wise to keep my political opinions to myself especially in a red state.

Yesterday an innocent conversation with a customer turned to politics and I could not say a word. If that customer had been a mind reader, she would have taken a verbal beating.

The customer was from Wisconsin.

She stated that she purchased property in Tennessee a few years ago with hopes of building a home and relocating. She "has to get out of Wisconsin" because there are too many "flaming liberals" there.

I said nothing, but I was thinking: "Lady, you will fit in quite nicely with all the right wing nut jobs in Tennessee, but at the moment you are talking to a proud flaming liberal."

She stated that she was disgusted that her house in Wisconsin has not sold and she could not get out of Wisconsin until it did. She has reduced the price from $500,000 to $400,000 and it still won't sell.

I said nothing, but I was thinking: "Lady, you can thank George W. Bush's failed economic policies for your circumstances."

She was complimentary of the products and services we have available in Tennessee, as well as the very reasonable prices, and that once she gets moved, she will be back to see me.

I thanked her and politely asked her to return as soon as she could.

I was thinking: "Come on back, spend your money here, and boost the income of this flaming liberal."

Sometimes discretion is the best path to take, but it sure is hard to keep my mouth shut!

ive learned to treat everyone the same regardless of who or what they are, plus i dont have time or inclination to get into arguments over stuff that im not going to change. Best thing ive found is just to nod and make agreeing noises then the encounters go much better.

is the best option in my crazy right office. They are great coworkers except for the politics (think straight IV from Fox including my boss). Sometimes I ask about sources of information (like the one where Obama watched from a drone as the consulate was overrun and ordered no action) and suddenly I got a back off from what they were saying.

Since my boss is a Young Earth Creationist you can imagine. He is a good boss though and a very good engineer.

5. Yes, my daughter was confronted with that line about the drone and consulate yesterday at work.

She said she asked for the source of the information. Of course, it was Faux News. She smiled at that and they backed down.

We know the real hatred is directed from right to left. There aren't that any mean spirited and nasty spokespeople like Limbaugh & Co. on the left. We're already seeing a coming together over a real big crisis. I don't see how it can be swept aside by deniers any longer. I'm hopeful the rest will fall in place.

8. I have thought about that often ... the nastiness from the right to the left.

There is no one on the left to compare to Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, Beck, etc. I am quite proud of that fact. Polite political discourse has been lowered to new depths since the advent of Limbaugh and Faux News. There is no doubt about that. Honesty is sorely lacking. Their support of a candidate as mendacious as Romney is living proof.

Wow, what you must endure. I'm glad I don't have to work in retail any more.

Hubs and I are planning to move back to TN, so I'll have to practice my tongue biting and try to avoid most folks altogether. Our families are so rightwing that we're not even telling them we're moving back! So, we're going to see how just how many years we can keep up the charade of pretending to be 'out of state.' We're moving for the beauty and open country, not the people.

Yes, tongue biting might be required. I do it frequently.
