A night i won't ever forget

This was the first election i voted in since turning 18 that year and the emotions i had when President Obama won were overwhelming.

Now i'm 22 and early voting tomorrow in the state of Texas, i feel more enthusiastic this election then the last. All i can say is. FORWARD.

Also this is on my front door everyday.

In the midst of all the turmoil of this year, I needed to be taken back in time.

Five nights from now, there WILL BE A REPLAY!

Forward for FOUR, MORE, YEARS.

9. when I don't forget where I was when it happened

Kennedy shot--In 2nd grade in line for the bathroom
MLK shot--At home watching TV
9/11--Getting ready for work, with TV on in the background
Paul Wellstone Dies--At home from work for lunch
Barack Obama elected President--In a bar, getting hugs from strangers, crying

I will also never forget the campaign:

Knocking on the door of an African-American here in Central Minnesota and hearing her exclaim "She's here about Barack Obama!!!!!"

Knocking on the door of an elderly white woman who said, "Some people say he will just be for the blacks." I responded, "Did you know he was raised by his white grandparents. She looks surprised and said, "You know I have a grandson who is part black and part white." I asked, "Do you think he would just be for the whites or for the blacks." She smiled, took the literature and said, "No I do not!"

Knocking on the door of an elderly woman, who invited me into my house and told me her son had died this year. Then her husband walked in, looking suspicious, but then relaxed when I explained I was there to ask for their vote for Barack Obama. He said, "Well I have voted Republican." The wife looked horrified and said, "You voted REPUBLICAN!!!!" With a twinkle in his eye, he said, "Oh you knew I voted for Eisenhower before I married you!"

Calling a woman on the day before election day to remind her to vote and hearing her say, "I am so glad you called, I was hoping someone would call. My husband won't talk to me anymore about Barack Obama and I needed to talk to someone about how much I want him to win."

I don't think I will be able to bear it if he were to lose. I will be door knocking this week end.
