To put the half the casualties are on Staten Island stat in perspective

New York city has a bit over 8 million people, Staten Island has 470,000. So while about 1 in 16 New Yorkers live on Staten Island, 1 in 2 of the deaths occurred there. That makes them 8 times as likely to have died.
