Where people won't jump up and down on my head.

I am so bloody SICK of political robocalls coming in on my landline. I have voicemail and could ignore all incomings, but it might be a family member in trouble or something important, and these buttholes invade my privacy and - intentional caps - I ALREADY VOTED!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

I'm particularly PO'd because when last call came in less than an hour ago, I fell down on my damned face trying to pick up the phone. It was a recording for our local mayor, but I screamed back anyway "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"

OK, I feel better. Back to snuggling kittehs.

Hoping that all is well with you! Believe it or not we had nasty wind gusts and the temp. dropped a lot for a couple of days, but when I see the devastation in parts of NJ and NYC I just want to cry.

The tornadoes that have ripped through here in the last couple of years don't show the damage that is seen in person and some of the photos reminded me of photos of NOLA during Katrina...block after block as far as the eye could see from aerial footage of flood waters. Houses lifted from the foundations, you know what what I'm trying to say...devastation is hard to see.

Mr. pig and I used to travel a lot, and after a certain length of staying away during rescue time, the local economies would really suffer from lack of tourism. So we'd go to San Francisco after the earthquake, NYC after 9/11, and NO after Katrina. We'd hang at small restaurants and talk to the locals. They needed the jobs, and we found out a lot more than was ever told on MSM.

As I said elsewhere on this thread, my sister's in Ohio and her power's been out for 3 days. Maybe Mittens will deliver them some canned goods.

26. My sister's in Ohio - and her power has been out for 3 days

The main streets in her burb were blocked by fallen trees (lots of old oaks), and they finally got equipment in to push them on to the treelawns.

Schools have been closed for a week. And this is Ohio, not NY/NJ.

36. Crews were leaving from here to NYC/NJ before the storm hit...

I'll ask the Mr. about crews going into OH. He told me the amount per hr. for journeymen linemen going into those areas and I asked him if he wanted to get his boots and hooks and his tool belt out of the garage. I was just asking....

37. My sister posted on her Facebook page that YAY - rescue from Cincinnati had arrived

Trees being moved, but power still out.

39. Of course, I had to ask how she posted on Facebook & charged her phone

but she works for a radio station about 30 miles inland from Lake Erie, and they didn't suffer much damage.

Sad about my hometown though. She lives right on the lake, and there are a couple of boulevards that parallel the shore with beautiful colonial and mock-Tudor homes. I guess that area is a mess.

Funny story about my sister. She was about seven - blonde with big blue eyes. There was a massive, beautiful house on one of the lake roads, and one day she marched up, knocked on the door and told the owner she really liked their house and wanted to see what it looked like inside. They invited her in and showed her all around.

Can you imagine something like that happening nowadays?

Just to give you an idea of the relationship I have with my sister, I was probably 16 and she was about 8 - meaning I was perfect and she was a complete pain in the ass. She was bugging me about something and I dumped a glass of orange juice on her head.

She has never let me forget it. She's told me that when I'm intubated on my deathbed, she'll be there with a large glass of orange juice.
