And the Winner of the BIG Money is.... (Drumroll please.....)
Last week I started a contest on DU. I've given my lunch money for the last three months to political candidates (and moved two belt notches in that same time frame!!). I decided to do it again in November so I asked DU members to write and give me a sales pitch for their favorite candidate. The best sales pitch would win.

I got some great reasons for many candidates but my winner is Du Member Ron Green making a plea for...Ron Green, who is actually running for election. Here is his pitch:
Ron Green: The Oregon State House has 30 D's and 30 R's and I am seeking to defeat the House Republican leader. His job as caucus head is to funnel large amounts of cash (he got a check last week for $75,000 from a Nevada billionaire) to Repub house candidates all over the state. If I can make him spend money on his own race in the last week, it'll take pressure off Democratic candidates all over Oregon, giving us a much better shot at breaking the tie in the House and getting good things done in the next session.
Plus, I am a DU member and the candidate.
I'm your guy.
So, ladies and gentlemen of DU (and the not very ladylike nor gentlemanly Duers too) I am making my donation to Ron Green. I'm inviting you in joining me this evening to dropping Ron a few bucks as well. The Oregon statehouse is 30-30. Wouldn't it be a whole lot nicer if you helped us make it 31-29?
