and says he has only one question to ask me: Do I believe Obama's policies have helped or hurt the economy.
I said "Obama's actions have tremendously helped the economy. He kept us out of what surely would otherwise have been a major depression."
He said "Thank you. I hope you have a good evening."
At that point my inner demon leapt to my lips and said, "And I hope you have a bad one."
As I asked in another recent OP, Am I a bad person?

I always find that a smile and a friendly comment infuriates my enemies far more than a "fuck you"
Beyond that, OP doesn't know the situation about the caller. Possibly some poor schmuck who makes some money by reading a rote statement 500 times a day and then makes a little tick mark on an excel sheet.
You just made their day a little crappier and confirmed an elitist nasty stereotype.
Bravo ...
I vote in a swing state and have been inundated with calls from that group and others. How hard is it to wish them well and maintain some class about yourself instead of spitting in their eye?

(16,916 posts)They called, asked a question, got an answer, stayed polite and thanked the OP. Is common courtesy outweighed by rank partisanship?
To the OP: You probably told some poor fuck who cant get a job anywhere else, and makes minimum wage to boot, to go have a lousy night. I understand why you did it, and agree it doesn't make you a bad person, but it was misdirected, and not very nice. I bet he felt like shit.

(16,916 posts)"Coerce? Lighten up Francis...They called, asked a question, got an answer, stayed polite and thanked the OP. Is common courtesy outweighed by rank partisanship?" was directed at you.
The following bit - the part that comes after..."To the OP"...?
That was directed to the OP. No confusion.

I did not deserve that from you.

(8,994 posts)Bottling up anger is how Tea Partiers and mass shootings happen. Not saying the OP would ever blow up like that, but sometimes you just have to vent.
Any Democrats that isn't looking for a wall to pound into dust with a sledgehammer right now, simply isn't aware of what is going on.

(315 posts)... But the way I see it, the only thing that was accomplished was a minimum wage workers day was a little bit worse for someone else's brief moment of satisfaction.

(45,274 posts)I did't feel good for having done it. I'm deeply angry at the ones in charge, not him and I no doubt reinforced his prejudices against Dems.

(17,339 posts)I'd have kept him on the phone for as long as I could. So he couldn't spread his bullshit to others.
But we do what we feel is right at the time. And I'm not saying that I could have resisted the urge to do what you did.

(45,274 posts)I consider my time more valuable than theirs, and I could be putting in billable hours and donating it to Democrats instead.
