Battle of the marriage equality ads in MN - kinda sad kinda funny

On the pro marriage equality side:

Features a Republican Iraq war vet speaking about a fallen soldier who was gay and not being able to imagine saying it is ok to give your life for our country but you can't marry the person you love. Very powerful (and he is very emotional in his argument)

vs

A scared looking white couple from Mass. telling their story of "horror" of what happened in their state when gay marriage was legalized - their son was taught in school that boys could marry boys! And they couldn't stop it! Oh the humanity - and their warning to us in MN about how it is going to happen to us!

I think it is funny in a sad way how pathetic the argument against marriage equality is vs the argument for equality for all.

They say "gay marriage will be taught in schools". How do you teach gay marriage? Or for that matter how would you teach straight marriage?

I've never understood parents like those portrayed in the commercial you describe who think keeping their kids ignorant to real life is going to protect them. First off all parents who think their kids don't learn about S.E.X are delusional. What with the internet you can't keep your kids that ignorant unless you live on a deserted island somewhere. I'll never forget my 10 year old daughter coming home from school and asking me how I got pregnant with her. Apparently some boys in her class had looked up "sexual intercourse" in the dictionary at the elementary school library. A very "scientific" description was found. My daughter couldn't believe that her mom and dad would do something that gross so wanted to know how I became pregnant because she knew there's no way I'd do THAT. Secondly, there is absolutely no logic to the argument in the commercial that learning about gay marriage is going to harm kids. I guess the unspoken insinuation is that upon learning this kids will become gay. The only people who would respond to the anti-marriage ad are those parents who don't allow their kids to attend the sex education classes in school, thinking their kids will want to have sex after learning more about it (instead they are all like "eeewww!&quot .

that's on the Vote Yes ads is gag-worthy. Remember when she was an anchor for KSTP? Well, she's all grown up and is counseling "post-abortive" women.

That ad just makes me cringe when I see it - so full of misinformation and fear mongering.

The urge to punch the Vote Yes people is testing my medication.
