A FB friend posted a flattering pic of her, the best one I've seen - I was going to say it wasn't her, but decided to avoid politics on FB.

She is over 60, isn't she? Is she much younger than her mitwit spouse?

Especially light from the side, it emphasizes wrinkles. The chicken skin is due to her skin type, dry, and time spent in the sun. I don't know her age but she looks great really, except for her neck. That's usually hereditary.

Rather than look just skin-deep, check out her ideas and character. Those are way uglier than a few wrinkles.

Focusing on appearances is a poor excuse for not thinking.

Wrinkles and aging don't matter. I've known lovely people with wrinkles, bags etc. It's the expression that betrays a mean personality, and that's ugly. I am a great believer in that you can't really be beautify outside if you are not beautiful inside.

It looks a little bit like this was done to this photo, thus making her skin have a harsher tone and the wrinkles more apparent. Looks like there are freckles on her forehead, too. Or age spots. With make-up those things would be minimized but with the increased saturation would still be visible.

For her age, she looks OK, especially for a woman who has probably spent some time in the sun on their boats and other outdoor equipment. She and I are close to the same age and back when we were teens, we used things like Coppertone Suntan Lotion. It had an SPF factor of about 4 (not kidding). So, like me, she probably had some fairly significant sunburns and is paying for that now. We didn't know nearly as much about the effects of sun on the skin as we do now.

As for her expression, if you snap pictures of anyone talking, you can get some pretty odd pictures since you freeze the mouth in mid-sentence. Some of the pictures of Chris Christie at the Convention during his speech were horrible and it was because of the emphatic way he was speaking and the photos stopped the movement in mid-snarl. Had he known in just a few short months he was going to be the President's BFF, he might not have been so harsh.

Women have a right to age, and frankly they age more gracefully if they stop trying to look 20 by dressing like, say, biker chic.

Thu Nov 1, 2012, 05:47 PM

She appears to be in the shade with the light coming from behind her. As such I would not expect her wrinkles to be so clearly defined. However the highlights in her eyes seem to indicate that the light on her face is coming from below which is generally unflattering. For example, they use a lot of bottom lighting in the show Dexter to make him appear more frightening.

If I were to guess, I'd say it appears as if some manipulation to contrast was done in post processing. The vast majority of digital photos are post processed in one way or another, even if the image comes straight out of the camera.

People who are made up for the camera often appear to have way too much make-up on if you see them in person. You can get away with a lot more if the person is to be seen from a distance.
