She had around half dozen signs, and some local shithead stole ours on Halloween night. I saw her raking leaves in her yard this afternoon, explained my situation, and asked if I could borrow one of hers. She gave me a sign and a hug. Damn it, Virginia! We can do this!

(135,425 posts)Use plastic gloves to make this happen...then put up a "SMILE, YOU'RE ON CANDID CAMERA" sign underneath your sign (in smaller letters, so only people coming up close will see what it says).
very nice

(12,647 posts)live in a very red county. There were Romney signs everywhere...on my rural road alone, there were 10 Romney signs and only 1 Obama sign (not including ours.) I just returned from the store and noticed there were only 2 Romney signs remaining on the entire 5 mile stretch. I find that extremely encouraging.
I love that people are pre-emptively embarrassed by him.

(12,647 posts)This past week has been a real disaster for Romney. Between the "cut FEMA funding" to the laughable "relief rally" and then the blatant Jeep lie in Ohio, I think even Republicans are beginning to realize he's grossly lacking in character.

(575 posts)An expensive education alone doesn't make someone smart. I hope everyone is really listening to him. I don't think he's crazy--I think he's spoiled and stupid. Not attractive in a person his age.

(4,325 posts)I live in VA too. I have seen far more Romney signs than for Obama. I don't think the numbers will have anything to do with how many votes Obama will get. I think too many people don't get the signs because they would rather donate their money to Obama...at least that is what we have done.
Those who can't afford to do either will vote for Obama...I so hope I'm right.
Do the signs really cause people to vote for the one who has the most signs?

(135 posts)because of my Obama bumper sticker. I'm surrounded by 99% GOP, however, this election I've used a magnetic sign, which I put up when driving around town and take down when I park it overnight! Yes, we CAN!!!

(1,805 posts)It sucks living in such a conservative part of SoCal. My husband is going to help at a local phone bank on Sunday. Of course he can't miss USC Saturday. Jeez, he didn't even GO there, but it's like some sort of sacred day around here.
He figures (after I signed Mr. Technophobe up online) that it would be a great chance to meet some of the few Dems around here. I'm going to try and go. I have so much health shit going on that I'm seriously a barely breathing medical encyclopedia.
Amazingly, we've only seen one Rmoney yard sign around, very strange. I think it's a good sign (pun intended). There were gazillions of McCain/Barracuda yard signs/bumper stickers in 2008. I use our magnetic car sign as well, have to put it on the side of the car, otherwise on one would see it as I'd have to put it on top of the trunk. I doubt big rig drivers would be impressed.
Our one neighbor has a NOBAMA sticker and we can hear him listening to Rush all the time - still a very nice family and great neighbors. We just avoid discussing politics.

(18,791 posts)I wanted to wait to take down some Halloween decor.
And what I did was to copy and enlarge, bumperstickers that I got from CafePress.com. I had ordered
a "Foward" one and one that is "Obama / Biden".
I've got 3 windows, so put the Obama / Biden in the center, and the Forward ones on the sides.
Here's hoping that some angry Bagger doesn't toss a rock through them! (...I really, really don't trust the Pukes

(16,959 posts)The guy having the sale was the sign guy for the Democratic Party in the next county over from ours. So we got signs for Senator Brown, Charlie Wilson, Lou Gentile and Charlie Daniels. We hope all 4 guys will be representing us soon!

(5,610 posts)I gave her my Obama and "Occupy" signs still in the box. She wants to place them in her classroom (already has) as a teaching aid (History). I hope she doesn't have problems due to these. We are in TN....
In 2008, I had my Obama bumper sticker removed from my bumper w/in an hour of attaching it, in IN.
I have had my Obama sticker on my car for months, here in TN. Rmoney signs everywhere and I am surprised that my car has not been keyed or the sticker removed, yet....
I have noticed that some rmoney signs have disappeared in the neighborhood. I hope it was the owners decision.

(3,370 posts)During the 2008 election, it was extremely hard to get signs. Our local offices were always out of them. One night, my husband and I were driving home and we noticed 8 of the exact same Obama signs all clumped together on an interstate off ramp. So, I pulled over and he grabbed one.
Whew. It feels good to get that out.

(32 posts)little kids haughtily stating "we're voting for ROMNEY!" and my husband smiling and saying "well I'm sorry to hear that" and giving the kid the boxes of raisins we bought just for the kids we don't like...
grown ups pointing at our sign and giving us the stinkeye and me smiling and saying "yes, we put that up to scare you republicans! isn't it your worst nightmare?"
and then there was the family who didn't say anything, but as they were leaving they turned back and grinned, and the dad waved four fingers in the air, did a fist pump, and yelled "four more years!" to which we yelled back "OBAMA 2012!"
(It's a miracle our house hasn't been egged/toilet papered. Yet.)

(876 posts)Couldn't get an Obama sign from our county Democratic party headquarters. They don't have any. They told me that the Democrats have ceded Indiana. This was 2 weeks ago. Maybe if the Mourdock's "God intended" moment would have come earlier they may not have pulled out to Indiana. The local call center is calling voters in Ohio.

(1 post)A few weeks back I turned off the main thoroughfare onto my street and was greeted with three huge billboard signs tacked to a fence touting Veterans For Romney, one for Allen and the other for the local delegate. I almost threw up but needed to make it the three mile stretch up the road to my house so as not to dirty the car but started to feel better as I saw one or two Obama signs. Once home and since we live on the corner I repositioned my sign from the garden to the curb to ensure maximum visibility. The next day I turned the corner onto our street and turned my head as I passed the billboards. Upon driving up the street not only was I delighted to see a dozen more Obama/Biden signs but as I neared my house I looked further up the road and a gentleman whose fence faces the main street was tacking up a giant Obama billboard on his fence. I guess I wasn't the only one who couldn't stomach the Romney banners greeting folks as they turned on our street. Now as you go around the bend from the Obama banner to the end of our street there is nothing but Obama signs in almost every yard.
Sidenote, I do calls at the campaign office and called someone yesterday to ask if they were supporting the President on Nov 6 and was interested in volunteering to get out the vote and the gentleman said to me "of course I am I did not realize anyone else was running.

Very hard to come by huge Obama/Biden signs. Someone finally did but it got vandalized with graffiti. Which personally think it should stay up there ... just to remind independent voters , hey look. the right don't respect free speech..
