RW relative is PRAISING Gov. Christie for the job he's doing.

When I mentioned that President Obama and Gov. Christie were working very well together and the POTUS was also doing a great job, RW relative said, "Well, he's just doing what the President's supposed to do, but Christie has been wonderful!"

The Republican Governor does the job he's supposed to do and he gets high praise.
The Democratic President does the job he's supposed to do and he gets no credit at all!

ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!

It's the way government is supposed to work! It doesn't matter which party you belong to - we all want the same thing! Why have the Republicans turned politics into a freakin' war zone?

he's a great person! Friendly, funny, always there when you need him. Unfortunately, he listens to talk radio and has been brainwashed into thinking that Democrats are destroying the country. Even when I point out that it's the GOP policies that have hurt him and the country most, he just refuses to see it. Somehow, it's always the fault of the Democrats!

I can't get through to him and I don't want to start WW III in my family, so I try to avoid politics. Honestly, I wasn't trying to have a political discussion today. He mentioned Christie and I agreed, then I mentioned Obama and his great working relationship with Christie. I didn't think it was a big deal. I should have known better.

... People I love and care about very much, who are great people in so many ways, but a combination of a very provincial worldview, as a result of spending their entire lives in a tiny central PA town, and the fact that they really don't make much of an effort to inform themselves beyond the major networks, Fox, and the local newspaper, results in their embrace of a very unfortunate politics.

I can't stand Gov. Christie, but I give him a lot of credit for how he has been working. It has done something to me to see him and the President working together. I guess I miss the feeling of knowing the leaders in my country are working together for the common good instead of destroying the country for political power. Sadly many republicans are so blinded by their vicious hate they can't see past anything that doesn't confirm their hatred. It truly makes me sick.

I've never had a nice word to say about Christie until now. He's done a good job and I'm so glad he put partisan politics aside for the good of the state. It would be so much more difficult for everyone affected if Christie and the POTUS weren't able to work together.

I really cannot abide Chris Christie. But when I saw that joint news conference by him and the President, I saw a man truly stricken by what had just happened to his state. There was none of the usual bombast and bluster. And when he said, "I don't give a damn about presidential politics right now," it rang absolutely true, as did his expression of appreciation for the President's help.

There was one other occasion when I had to set aside my general disdain for Christie and give him credit he legitimately deserved, and that was one he stood to the anti-Muslim bigots in his own party in defending his appointment of a Muslim judge.

There is still far more I dislike about the man than I will ever like, but I believe in giving credit to anybody when it is genuinely deserved (as it is by both Christie and President Obama in their handling of this crisis).

Even mentioned that "Brownie" criticized Obama for responding too fast! The response: "Oh that happened years ago! It doesn't have anything to do with this." (Translation: Let's not talk about anything that makes a Republican look bad.)

You have it right there in a nutshell.

There's something deeper than partisanship here. It's the basic refusal to recognize African Americans as equals, regardless of their work or accomplishments.

"Watta ya call a black brain surgeon?"

Well, you know.
