First, let me tell you that I live in a very red county in Texas. Some may question why I even bother, but I do anyway.
One of the things I noticed was that there were no lines. Not like 2010. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I also notice that there were NO signs out front for any Democrats! Not that there were many on the ballot. Most of the Judges and school board were all unopposed. A lot of others were Repug versus libertarian. (I left them blank.)
There were people out front of the building handing out mini American flags and a TEA party newsletter (well within 150 feet, by the way). One lady approached me asking if I would like to have a newsletter. I, almost politely, told her, "No, Thank You." But the best part was as I parked my car there were five kids getting out of the car next to me. All of them looked 18 to 21 years old. I bet it was their first time voting. They were CLUELESS as to what to do. All five of them were asked if they wanted the newsletter. ALL of them declined. This one small thing gives me hope.

(10,618 posts)I just thank my lucky stars that they all live in solidly blue states. Because of that I don't need to worry that I can't convince them to vote the right way.

(192 posts)Early voted this past Monday. There was a small line, not many signs. There was a "Voter ID Required" sign out front. But I went in prepared with my voter registration card and drivers license.
The woman who was handling registration is a former neighbor. One of the first in our area to have a "Taxed Enough Already" sign in her front yard. I'm sure through mutual friends she knew I support Obama. She snatched both my cards from my hand and shoved my license back at me. Was pretty short with me when I asked a question.
I just smiled back, knowing that while my vote may not count much in my state, getting under her skin made my day.

(7,572 posts)....out literature in a study class? It happened here, and disappointed and angered me, but I said nothing except "no thank you".
