The final days...
So, tomorrow is Friday. Hopefully there will be a good jobs report and the stock market will continue to look good in spite of the troubles in NYC. Many people are focusing on storm cleanup and won't be paying much attention to either of the candidates. Then we have the weekend and, again, I think folks will be preoccupied with the usual weekend things and won't be paying too much attention to politics. In the meantime, people will notice that NYC is slowly coming back with some transit working and cleanup proceeding. When they see this, they will think of Obama and his tour with Gov. Christie...they will not think of Romney and his stupid cans.
So, we then have Monday...the day for final arguments. My bet is on Obama to give a superior summation.
Among my friends up here in NH, I am considered a "political junkie". No one pays as close attention to politics as I do. Most of my friends have made up their minds and find Romney a turn-off. These people have other things in their lives to preoccupy them and they are not buying into the last minute, desperate bullshit being spewed by the Romney campaign. Seeing Gov. Christie and Barack Obama working together over Sandy sealed the deal for them.
So, I think this election is essentially over except for the ground game of GOTV and we know who's got the better game there.
I will still worry until the last vote is counted but I am beginning to slowly exhale.
