Broward elections supervisor explains changed vote tallies.

First it was a "computer glitch" that subtracted vote totals at multiple early voting sites in Broward county. Now it's human error.

http://thegrio.com/2012/10/30/broward-elections-supervisor-explains-changed-vote-tallies/

"And the workers . . . get the tally from the site the workers manually added the numbers and when they manually added the numbers they mis-added so when we run the numbers through our system we corrected them."

Snipes said the real problem was the office released the hand counted tallies rather than waiting for the electronic tallies which are in the revised numbers

Okaaaaaay. I hope they do another hand count to cross check these results. I've seen this movie before and I don't like it much.

They've already shown their incompetence, and it was exposed in minutes. There are people who will be monitoring this, no doubt.

It's not enough to vote anymore. You have to be responsible for your ballot and make sure it's counted.

I once hired a former Elementary School assistant principal who was looking for part-time work. I had to let her go when I realized that she did not know how to perform basic math on a calculator.

I'm not knocking teachers, I admire the heck out of the job they do, but how this lady got to be an Elementary School Assistant Principal is beyond me.

re-brand the activity. I do think 'human error' is more palatable to 'computer glitch' this time around. I have to say, I am fascinated by the number of people who show up and don't vote.

“No votes have been lost,” Snipes said. “No votes have been counted or exposed to anyone. Those numbers that you see are the number of people who showed up at a site. Sometimes a person may show up and decide not to vote. They may cast a provisional ballot. The numbers you’re seeing, we’re reporting people, we’re not reporting votes."

8. I am a poll worker. I don't know how that could be possible.

I don't know how they do it in Florida but in my state when someone signs the book that person's name is given to multiple workers. They each have a book of names and keep a running total of voters. Once an hour a worker is supposed to tally up the recorded votes on each machine and compare the total to what the workers have recorded by hand in the books. If that was done it would be impossible to miscount by over a thousand.

9. Right. I was a little surprised at the official response as well.

Given the history we're all familiar with I would think the elections supervisor would have re-tallied and re-checked the ballots.

Instead she's only offered contradictory responses that send the BS detector deep into the red. It's probably nothing but this person is a Bush appointee and at this point my trust level has sunk to just about zero.

Well maybe not the whole world but there should be enough scrutiny to make them think twice about cheating (she said hopefully)
