(32,626 posts)while watching New Orleans drown. The feeling of hopelessness, and helplessness, deeply affected me. For some reason, when I saw the President and the Governor yesterday, I got all teary again. It just hit on some emotional level, almost like a flashback. It was really nice to see, but at the same time, really sad.

But most of what I know and love, most of what shaped me as a human being and that I still pine for every day was or is there and to see it drown while that smarmy little weasel stood there and became the incompetent fool we always knew he was made scars that still ache.
It was a beautiful thing to see President Obama and Governor Christie move hand in hand to help our brothers and sisters on the Eastern Seaboard, but "What if" was there along with all the satisfaction.
We can NEVER let someone who is stupid and who lacks compassion and the calm expertise we will increasingly need in this world be at the helm ever, ever again.
