she stopped then started back up again when he spoke English. That made me wonder... all deaf people can hear and understand Spanish?

My understanding is several in her family are deaf. She does seem to be quite the sensation.

She's interpreting for the deaf. So if she stops when he speaks Spanish she appears to presume that the deaf don't need that info in ASL, so I jokingly speculated that all deaf can hear and understand Spanish.

when i was working in a glass shop in Gardena. one of the guys was being sent to pick up fish and chips for lunch and he was told to ask the other girl in the office if she wanted some. she said no, and the kid went back to the shop and asked, "is that right? girls don't like fish?"

you probably had to be there...
