90 Million Are Planning Not to Vote – Your Mission: Take Just One of Them to the Polls
By Michael Moore - Oct 31, 2012 - http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/mike-friends-blog/90-million-are-planning-not-vote-your-mission-take-just-one-them-polls

I have a personal favor I'd like to ask each of you. We all know the election next Tuesday is going to be very close. But I've got an idea that could help put President Obama over the top.

I want you – yes, YOU, the person reading this right now – to get ONE of your fellow Americans who would not otherwise vote to show up at the polls and support Obama.

Here's the math: there are upwards of five million of you seeing this, via email, on my website, on the Huffington Post and all over the internet. There are 1.2 million following me on Twitter. I've got almost 700,000 Facebook friends.

I want just one million of you to convince just ONE person each – one person who's planning NOT to vote – to go to the polls and vote for Barack Obama. That's it. And those million extra votes could make all the difference in what will be a very tight election – and it will save us from a tragic return to the Bush years.

1. Won't do much good unless they are actually registered.

I know several people that don't vote but they didn't register either.

in NH people can register on election day. If you're GOTV, knowing the rules for your state is a must.

Many of them bitch and moan about how this country is governed, but are too lazy to do a damn thing to change it.

8. Where are you getting your figure of 90 million? Let's do some math....

...out of 315 million people in the US, approximately 175 million are registered to vote. 130 million voted in the 2008 elections, which is probably a very good indicator of the number of people who will vote on Tuesday.

That leaves just about 45 million who may not vote, not 90 million as you stated. With everything at stake in this election, and someone is still not voting at this point in time, your chances of talking him or her into doing so are pretty slim.

10. I know the number is screwed up. It is Michael Moore's number, of course.

Nonetheless, the idea is a great one and the ethic of making sure the people you know directly vote can make a difference,
especially if you poll them first

I like the idea of getting ahead of this curve and finding out who is not registered properly. Who has recently moved, for example! Who has not registered after turning 18? Etc.

12. I'm sorry, but the time for "getting ahead of the curve" was about 3-6 months ago....

...trying to look at this topic just a few days before the election is way too late.

And they will be confused by the rest of the ballot.
