For those voting Absentee

I voted by Absentee Ballot and mailed it on Friday. I was able to check online with my Supervisor of Elections Office and they told me they received it on Saturday.

I live in St Lucie County, FL and the lines have been extremely long so I didn't want to get caught without voting. Oh yeah and the fact that we have been reduced to only 8 days of early voting didn't help any. Last time we were able to vote for 14 days before the election.

Anyway - please check online to make sure your absentee ballot has been received from your Supervisor. Only 5 more days. It would be good to know now!!

1. I mailed mine on Oct. 15 and they got it Oct. 27.

Good suggestion to check on the local voter registration site if your ballot has been received, most if not all states should have a website to check that.

(I don't like the term absentee though because here for federal elections anyone can vote by mail for any reason, they don't have to claim absentee or give a 'reason.')

2. Thinking about it now,

it might be a good thing I didn't mail it in from NY. If I had mailed it before the hurricane, would it have gotten there in time?

Voting in person on Tuesday.
