Superstorm Sandy Death Toll Continues To RiseQUOTE:
The death toll from Superstorm Sandy has risen to at least 72 people, as populations along the East Coast of the United States prepare to take the first steps towards returning to their daily routines.
Lawrence O'Donnell stated on his show tonight that some people were being found dead in their homes on Staten Island.
Sadly, based on the video footage I've seen over the past couple of days, and the fact that quite a few people chose not to evacuate, I think the death will go much higher.

(3,526 posts)8. The fatalities are now at 80+ according to the BBC....
Sandy death toll hits 80 and keeps rising
QUOTE:
The death toll from Sandy keeps rising as swathes of the US East Coast battle to recover, three days after being battered by the massive storm.
More than 80 people are now known to have died in the US, 37 in New York City alone, and others remain missing.
The toll is actually 82+. The two young boys mentioned in the article as being missing were found dead earlier today. Can't imagine being their mother and having them pulled out of her arms.

Seriously under-reported in the coverage of Sandy.
