Back in the early '80s, I was recruited (by the local Republican party, no less), to run for a position on the Board of Supervisors. I was "quote" a war hero "unquote" (apparently getting shot qualified me), and I was an elementary school teacher. That was all they required. I was, and still am, a Democrat, and I declined their offer. But now, as I look at the state of politics today, it is clear to me that even if I wanted to, I couldn't be elected to ANYTHING in this day and age.
You see, every morning I wake up astounded to find that, yet again, President Obama has not said, "Are you fucking kidding me? Mitt Romney is a dishonest sack of shit, and anyone who votes for him is dumber than Sarah fucking Palin after a crystal meth binge! He AND his horse-faced wife wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on their saggy, pampered asses! Fuck 'em both, and fuck anyone who is stupid enough to even briefly consider voting for that lying ass-wipe!"
That would be my message. So, what do you think my chances would be with the electorate?

(32,006 posts)He said what he thought and attacked the Daley administration for its corruption. Richie Daley went after him with a axe slandering him all over the district. Obama lost in a landslide. That was the last time Obama ever said anything against Daley and Daley supported him in future elections.
