(1,330 posts)That smug thug did nothing. NOTHING. And when he was forced to by public pressure, he told Cheney to take charge, and Cheney said No. Then that p.o.s. came here for a photo-op.
Grateful for Hope
(39,320 posts)W was never personally involved. Our President is. The fact that he cancelled his campaign appearances with no fanfare speaks volumes.
He is an amazing man and I think history books will describe him as one of our best presidents on many levels.

(30,058 posts)In Katrina rescues began on Thursday after the storm went through on Monday. I know a lady who was dropped off on an overpass on Thursday waiting to be moved to another area. The temperature was 103 degrees and they was without water and of course no restrooms. This is a shame we should never have again. I know the recovery after Sandy will not occur over night and perhaps years down the road but fast action to assist those affected by disasters is the humane thing to happen. My heart goes out to all affected by Sandy. I have been through several hurricanes in my lifetime and none alike, without electricity for a week or more each time but you can survive. My prayers will to each and everyone.

2.- Canadian teams did indeed get there within 36 hours.
Both of these were isolated and somewhat haphazard.
