(14,040 posts)I could see her hair and him hugging someone (you couldn't see her except her hair) and at one point he was rocking her.
I know it's horrible but I was hoping someone got footage of that.

(32,611 posts)She would not let go of him. It seemed to last for at least 3 minutes. He did not hurry her at all.
I would love to know what that couple at the beginning of the walk were talking about to President Obama. They seemed angry.

(14,040 posts)and guy w/ wrap arounds and thermal shirt?
If them, I noticed her face getting redder and redder.

(32,611 posts)I could tell from his body language that the President was more than ready to disengage but without handlers around he did not have a way. Finally the FEMA guy was pulled in but still they kept going and going.
When the President turned to walk with the Governor and the others toward the microphone that couple dropped right in behind Obama and I thought Oh God, I hope the secret service is on this.

(54,087 posts)They'll probably have to settle ignoring him while repeating "Some critics are asking why was the president not able to stop this deadly storm? Mitt Romney's tax cuts would already have fixed these problems."

(14,040 posts)Sources on the ground said he copped a feel as a bereft woman cried on his shoulder.

(80 posts)That is the #1 reason I voted for him . . . the other hundreds pale in comparison. President Obama cares for the people of this country with a passion that is only matched by his love for his family.

I also remember President Clinton after the Oklahoma City bombing. Both of these men bring tears to my eyes because I can feel their empathy and sympathy & heartfelt graciousness. To them each person they meet is worthy of their time and love.
That's it, President Obama has a heart full of love for all of us.
I just realized the title of my post could be disconcerting. Changed it to read spiritual soul

(20,590 posts)Bush was AWOL so Clinton walked down the streets of New York. People were screaming and running to him to be hugged. It was really sad.

(573 posts)Willard doing anything like that. It pains him to have to shake hands with the crowds.
I believe he thinks that 'The Poor' would rub off on him and he might develop a fatal case of compassion with a side effect of empathy.

(89,276 posts)never really got to him. even after that first debate. personal attacks don't affect him much. if you look at romney the personal stuff and the campaign is what affects him.
with Obama it's seeing other people hurt that causes him worry, pain etc. i think this is something Christie sensed also.

(53,410 posts)They're sleep deprived from a few days before the storm, so it's much more difficult for them not to show their emotions. We're privileged to have the photos to see the stress and pain both men are feeling. I can say that today I like Chris Christies. It's really obvious he's distressed about what's happened to New Jersey's people.
Tomorrow I can go back to disliking him when he acts like a shit. Today he's doing good.

It was the human thing to do.
.....and she hugged him back.

A lesson in counseling, for sure.
Thank you Mr President.
You are continuing to make us proud.

(20,590 posts)I guess she had the marina. She looked like she was still in shock though I bet she felt better after meeting the President and FEMA director.
A very empathetic man. Just who we need in the Whitehouse.
