I'm a firm believer that President Obama is going to win the election but I think it's going to be fairly close--meaning, I think when he wins NC, it's going to be close. When he wins FL, it's going to be close. When he wins Ohio, it's going to be close.
Meanwhile, the right's noise machine is selling the "Mittens is going to win by a landslide" meme. What is the purpose of this? To encourage voters? Well, no, usually when you say a candidate is going to win in a landslide, voters become complacent, they don't think they need to vote for their "guy." So, why would these people be selling this tale?
I can only imagine it's so there is so much disrest after President Obama's win, that his next 4 years will be fraught with even more animosity than it is now. I've seen a lot of right-wing whackjobs on Twitter talking about Benghazi and impeachment, I've seen the RWNJs talking about how LIBERALS are going to riot in the streets when the President loses (projection much?). I see lots and lots of well-bred animosity.
I think our nation has fractured into the reality-based and those in need of serious medication and it's kinda frightening.

(16,350 posts)It's KKKLite we are dealing with, backed by and manipulated by the wealthiest, greediest, most dishonest and audacious oligarchs.
The Tea Party is, I think, the NRA minus the guns, though they have them too. I've seen the TP at my local townhall, and they were nasty, angry, and to my eyes a little unhinged.

(14,040 posts)are definitely making it worse. When the President wins, it won't be long before the right is screaming "stolen election." And what does crying wolf do for us and actual stolen elections when everyone starts proclaiming all elections are stolen. They won't demand change about how elections are run, instead it'll put the US gov't in a position where it is always view as suspect.

(31,849 posts)why there's all these " President) Obama may win the EC; but romney will win the popular vote" narratives being spun.
First, I haven't been following the polling much; but in the most "reliable" polls, isn't President Obama winning nationally?
Secondly, remember 2000 ... Gore won the popular vote (and would have won the EC, if Gore hadn't shut down the count); but EVERYONE was fine with the Constitution, then. There were no riots, no unrest; but more, no obstruction from Democrats.

(14,040 posts)The difference is, IMO, though we have MSNBC as our quasi-liberal channel, it doesn't go to the lengths that Fox noise has to indoctrinate it viewers. The people who think Fox is the only "true" source of news will never let it go. That's why I used Benghazi as an example; they've gotten themselves so whipped up over this that if President Obama doesn't come out as a traitor, their narrative will always be, forever and ever amen, that the President did nothing to help those soldiers.
