My daughter just voted and some lady told her if she voted for Obama and dem that she was going to hell.
Thats nice and of course a big load of BS. At least my family will all be together in the after life as all four of us voted Obama and straight Dem.
I wish that lady would have told me this. I would have counter with: "I think not, I went to the Divine Mercy hour this year, and the last 10 years and will be at this years and next years. I am completely forgiven for any sins I may have committed or might commit in the future and so is my family according to the Catholic Church."
I am in Winter Park FL, but Seminole not Orange County.
Well I'm off to make zombies for the yard. My daughter is rethinking her stance on my Halloween idea. I wanted to buy many mitt masks and make zombies. She said no. I said can I put up a 5 star devil thing. She said definitely not these crazy people will kill our pets. In 08 people on our street took the loss bad, they were burning flags and other bad things to the flag not to mention the mean spirited signs about the then prez-elect.

Systematic Chaos
(8,601 posts)It was the lead story on at least one evening local newscast.
People currently in that neighborhood say that the cats were outdoors because they were left behind from home foreclosures and the like, but many of the people in that neighborhood who had their own cats would chip in and get the strays fixed and make sure they were well fed.

Four years ago they tried to tell people if you were a Christian, you had to vote republican. This an escalation of rhetoric.

Maybe I would have told her "I will pray for you, that God restores wisdom to your withered and shriveled brain".
My condolences to you, and others in Red states.

(2,679 posts)Yesterday I voted and as I was walking to my car this preppy looking blond white guy asked rMoney right (he was shaking his head up and down). I shook my head the other way and proudly said. NO OBAMA. He muttered something, and I told him, "Its ok I'll pray for you to help you over come your mental state." His jaw dropped I got in my car (A jeep btw) and left.
I'm many of these people worse nightmare, I don't back down at the crazy people talk.

(27,630 posts)All they have is harrassment, peer-pressure, "you're going to hell", dumb stuff like: don't vote for the African commie, etc.
They got nothin'.

(153 posts). . .where they assume everyone thinks exactly like them, and therefore it means everyone is going to vote exactly like them as well.
I get tired of running into those people too - especially when you know they don't know a damned thing about Romney except he's not Obama. Every time I hear one of them say "we need change" I ask them if they mind if the change is a lot worse and they usually grow silent. It is amazing how they believe every flip flop out of Romney's mouth is gospel yet claim that Obama didn't do anything for the country.
I have one acquaintance who pronounced that he is voting for Romney because Obama was(is) a "liar." I responded "well, if lying is your threshold for determining how to vote, how exactly do you expect the country to get better if you are voting for Romney?"
He had no response.

(6,907 posts)that you could go to hell for voting a candidate, I think one could come up with a pretty cogent argument for them that a vote for Romney will get them a ticket to hell also. Talk them in to writing in for Jesus.

(2,679 posts)Not for Prez, I voted Obama (and I have a question about that not my pick but the order that I'll get back too), but for some commissioner that is running unopposed. The candidate is a rethug I wrote in Jesus suggest others do the same.
My question is why is rMoney/rapist ticket (and for that matter all R candidates) listed first?

(2,679 posts)get a rMoney sign and make some changes so it looks more like Josh Whedon version. But I just can't fathom touching one. So I am going to make my own. One will say Fight the dead Fear the Living. Welcome to Zomoney Land. Zomeny he eats brains. But I need more I have paint and lots of wood for signs. Ideas are welcome.
Actually I have gotten lots of good complements about my Halloween yard. I used my neighbors old pallets to board the windows and make a bon fire, cement blocks for graves. I got snakes rats vultures dead flamingos only thing missing is zomoneys and they will be there by this evening.

My house got a lot of traffic. People kept taking pictures. This was from the mouth of babes "It means Mitt Romney is a Zombie right mom?" I heard that so many times and the many agreements. My rethug neighbors didn't like it to much. Oh I have a big spot light on it too.

(23,768 posts)I've lived in Fl for 12 years and was never there. But someone mentioned what a great downtown they had and good restaurants. So with a couple of friends we did a road trip. Had a great time! But I have to say I was really dismayed to see all the Romney/Ryan yard signs. I cheered every time I saw an Obama sign. Glad you are there to stir the pot.

And mine:
I'm voting against warmongering, racism, greed and screwing over the poor. So how does that make me less Christian?

(4,449 posts)Did it in 2008, when I was told exactly the same thing. A lady told me I was going to hell if I voted for Obama. I laughed right in her face and told her that the last thing I was scared about was the theology of the stupid. Then I told her that her kind of Christian could make any place, including heaven, hell, so why bother worrying about the afterlife?
