Reuters: Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that any countries attempting to interfere in Ukraine would be faced with a swift response from Russia and said all decisions on how Moscow would react in that situation have already been taken.
Addressing lawmakers in St Petersburg, Putin said the West wanted to cut Russia up into different pieces and accused it of pushing Ukraine into conflict with Russia.
You can bet the farm that the West made their decisions on how to react if he's dumb enough to try something.

(8,020 posts)the ambassador, we will have Marines guarding it, we will have to also guard its airspace. If pootie messes with them he is in for a World of hurt. Biden just name the new ambassador and it should be up and running in a few days.

he knows Biden would declare war on Russia, and I don't believe he wants to take us on.

(21,408 posts)Won't see the MSM giving him credit but he kept NATO and our allies united, why even Germany has decided to send tanks to Ukraine. Since WW II Germany has been reluctant to get involved in conflicts, but because of president Biden's influence Germany is stepping up to the plate.
Dems need to frame the 2022 election as a choice between democracy or autocracy, like Russia, and they need to mention Russia.
Dems need to run on saving our democracy because if we lose our democracy we all lose our freedom.

(21,408 posts)The oligarchs didn't just skim money from the oil and gas industry, they skimmed money from the MIC. Money that was allocated for the military ended up in Putin's and his oligarch pals' pockets.
This is the kind of government the GQP wants for America.

(12,509 posts)missile submarines currently have a US Navy Fast Attack submarines just aft and below its baffles, with tubes loaded at DEFCON 2, ready for the Russian missile boat to dare open its missile doors and hit the launch button.
I'm sure the fast attack skipper has President Biden's okay to blow that missile boat to pieces if the time comes.

(38,328 posts)If Russia self-destructs it will be administered by China in the East, and the U.S.A. and Europe in the West.
Nobody will want to get involved with actually governing the place.
If Russia wants to be regarded as a modern 21st century economy they'll have to do that themselves.

Then China can make a deal with Russia for the Siberian resources.
Such resources would guarantee China financial independence.

(3,044 posts)Short of nuclear war, given what we have seen from the RU military against a much less capable country so far, once we/NATO brought sufficient force to the region, RU forces on the ground, sea and in the air would be decimated. We would have not insignificant losses too. That would bring Putin to the "existential threat" red line he and other RU officials refer to as a trigger for going nuclear. Yes, our submarine nukes would be the ultimate deterrent Putin could not readily mitigate or counter but that is waaaayyyy down a road we don't want to be on. And while the US may survive with some damage, the EU would likely be devastated, physically and economically. Not sure we could put Humpty Dumpster back together again for quite some time. A dangerous game Putin has sucked the world into.

(3,044 posts)critical US infrastructure. RU is not alone, Iran and North Korea plays the same intrusion test game but RU is the most prolific. So anything satellite or computer based has risk economically.

We actually have been preparing for this shit for 75 years. This is why we have such a large military, Pootie. There have been delusional autocrats in the world before. They never succeed. They can do a lot of damage though

Lenin and Stalin made those borders. Ukraine has always sought independence.
Why not annex Belarus instead? It's not like Lukashenko would resist; he's already Putin's vassal.
