I'm just going to say it...

I'm a little scared of this monster heading toward us--Sandy. I have a huge oak tree in my front yard, that I fear will be in my living room when all is said and done.

I live in Delaware. Shit like this doesn't or at least, very, very rarely happens here.

So yes, I'm a little scared.

I've done all the preparing, I've read all the advice from those who've been through hurricanes. The only thing I have left to do is fill the tub, which I will do after my shower tonight.

They say the worst will be 8am Monday till 8am Tuesday--roughly. It's already raining kinda windy, it's going to get worse as the day goes on.

Guess I better just buckle up and hold on tight.

Having lost a favorite tree last year (due to human error, not natural act), I can really sympathize with your concern.

It could be bad or it could be nothing. Living in New Orleans for over 20 years taught me that.

To be honest, I love severe weather and in some ways enjoyed Katrina as she passed through. It was what happened after the storm that was truly terrifying.

Stay safe, stay dry and consider a hurricane party to take your mind off things.

I will keep fingers crossed your tree doesn't fall. Rain hasn't started in central VA yet, but I'm expecting it anytime now. I'm very worried for you guys on the DelMarVA penn... Stay safe.

The not so bad part is that this will be a category one, so think of it as a long wet sustained wind storm, but if you are near the water - uh oh

I tried to take some posts out of the ground, but if I could not lift them with my body, they are not going to blow away, everything else is in the garage or in a niche outside.

It's too bad you can't run outside and pick all the leaves off your tree. Without it's leave it wouldn't catch the wind. Bare trees are safe trees.

think of it this way
some trees fall, but the vast majority remain tall and proud.

but this one is scary.

here in North jersey they are saying the worst will be late morning til noon tuesday. At least it is not suppose to be under 32 and its rain not snow.

and they say climate change isn't happening.

If there is a weakness with the structure you might be able to spot it ahead of time.

Sometimes there are limbs that "speak to you" upon inspection.

for Connecticut and Long Island. The shoreline is looking like it will be hammered. Up to 10 foot storm surge and it is already 3 feet in Stamford. I am very happy to be living in northwestern CT but have family on the coast. It is very, very scary. Stay safe.

I have a big tree outside my bedroom window (a BIG tree - I'm on the 5th floor) and the leaves brush my window in a stiff breeze. I've heard it a couple of times already. Not raining here yet but is starting to go from breezy to windy.

Hang in there and stay away from windows.
