...all hell will break loose in the Republican Party. It will be all-out war.
To hell with Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment!
There is no guarantee that Willard will win SC. He tied Santorum in Iowa and could not muster over 40% in NH. He is a weak candidate. SC could be a fatal blow for him if he does not do well. It does not get any easier for him.
I suspect Newt and Santorum combined will definitely get more votes than Romney in SC and either of them may defeat him. I suspect it is time for Newt to win one?
Turn on the recorders! It going to be hilarious!

(17,111 posts)The RW evangelicals are notoriously hard to corral. They love nothing better than throwing wrenches among other things.
There is a week to go of this ton of fun.

(25,183 posts)is trying to decide which of the three, Perry, Santorum, or Gingrich to back. The fundies in Iowa managed to deliver a tie for Santorum, surely the fundie preachers in South Carolina must be frantic about now that the Mormon is going to thump his chest over their state a week from now.
I'll bet at least a few prominent snake-handlers publically ask Perry to bow out, and I expect them to thump their flocks pretty hard this Sunday for their appointed choice. We'll see poll numbers change over the week if they manage to unite on one anti-Romney.
Florida preachers are watching nervously.

(1,546 posts)I really hope Romney fails to place any higher than third...maximum humiliation that will hang over him into Florida. Need to keep the media focused on the NotRomney narrative.

(111,110 posts)with Santorum coming in second. Romney and Paul will tie for third. Perry will be fastening his saddle bags for the long ride back to Texas.

(25,183 posts)beating Romney, and since independents get to vote in SC, I cannot see Paul as low as fourth place. If the fundie vote unites, Romney can be stopped, but even so, he's going to beat Paul down there. The Carolinas have changed somewhat in recent years, many baby boomers are retiring from the Northeast to those low-tax states. My lady's sister and her husband just moved there last month, permanently from New Jersey.

(25,183 posts)Huntsman staying in the race helps that, as my guess is that nearly all of his vote goes to Romney.

(25,029 posts)There is no best choice as in least bad President should the shit hit the fan or easiest to beat. The best choice is them to discredit themselves under the spotlight for as long as possible.
We can only hope the anti-Romney vote gets some focus before the winner takes all states.
Of course a long time in the spotlight probably won't be terribly kind to some one as fake, smarmy, and odious as Willard so it doesn't make any predetermined difference.
I figure they default at the very least 40% of the vote and hundreds of millions of dollars and will suck ass, at best and call it a day.
