http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/the-buzz-florida-politics/content/marco-rubios-daughter-injured-car-accident

Sen. Marco Rubio's 12-year-old daughter Amanda was injured in a car accident earlier Saturday in Miami, his office said.

"She was airlifted to Miami Children's hospital. She is in stable condition," his office said in a statement. "Sen. Rubio was notified of the accident after coming off stage while campaigning with Governor Romney in Kissimmee, Florida. He is enroute to Miami."
Detail about the accident was not available Saturday evening.

I hope it's not as serious as it sounds.

I don't know how bad the accident had to be for her to get so hurt in what had to be a modern car or SUV. She must have been surrounded in airbags and secured by a harness. Maybe it was a freak accident.

Best wishes and deep concern to the Rubio family. Poor girl.

so this is an educated guess.

If the accident had a very serious adult casualty, since kids compensate far better than adults, but do crash and crash hard, you tend to transport as a code trauma in a chopper if the distance is more than 15 minutes by land. So this is not as strange as it sounds, but she will be tested for multiple things to discard multiple things anyway.

If we had a person killed, pretty much you can guarantee a chopper.

Regardless, that is damn scary for an adult patient, let alone a young teen.

Wow.

If this were Demetra Collins' (our housekeeper) kid who got hurt in an accident, would it mean anything to you? It would to me. Who the fuck do you think pays for her insurance? I do.

Rubio's kid? Not so much. I do not give a fuck about her or her family. But I still pay for a tiny tad of Rubio's insurance even tho I wish he did not exist.

I suppose we all have our own sets of priorities.

And don't tell me to "Knock it the fuck off". You don't even know me.

How did you get so imperious, all by yourself?

Ain't it great when yours is the only opinion that counts?

I got mine, you have yours.

And I can tell you, the traffic down there is absolutely horible!! Too many cars, unkept roads, crazy drivers! It's a mess! I am so glad I don't live there anymore, my car insurence went down 40% when I moved up north, and I feel a lot safer driving.

I too wish her a speedy recovery.

I just wonder what any freeper threads about Harry Reid said. However, I refuse to go to that site to see. My guess is were probably not all that nice.

I wish her well. I believe Miami Children's is a fine hospital. In the 10 years I lived in Miami there were never scandalous stories about it.

http://americablog.com/2012/10/marco-rubio-not-told-daughter-was-in-accident-until-after-rally-for-romney.html

We need to know more, but I do find it interesting that no one reportedly told GOP Senator Marco Rubio that his daughter was airlifted to a hospital in stable condition following a car accident until AFTER he was done doing a campaign rally with Mitt Romney.

Miami Herald:

Rubio was notified of the accident after coming off stage while campaigning with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Kissimmee.

from my house. I had my police scanner on, and just about 5 minutes later heard a call come over for first responders and ambulances to "Four Corners", a 4 way stop intersection from my house about 3 miles away, for a "two car 46" ( two vehicle accident with injuries). I started thinking "Oh god! I hope it's not them!" A minute later, a first responder was reporting to the ambulance driver he had two patients: a 17 y/o female driver and 18 y/o male passenger, who just recently had knee surgery. My heart stopped for a minute. At the same time, a friend called me and said "You need to get up to 4 corners NOW, your son is laying out in the middle of the road"!

I totally lost it then... called my sister, and my parents, then hauled ass up there in the pouring down rain. By the time I got there, they had my son in the back of the ambulance, but were still working on my niece inside the car. After making sure my son was okay, i went to the car to check on my niece. She was dazed, and asking for her mom. About that time, my sister and parents pulled up... my sister got half-way to the car and froze up. I had to reassure her that her daughter was ok, and was asking for her.

That was one SCAREY night I'll never forget. My heart goes out to Sen. Rubio and his family. Once again, best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to his daughter.

Peace,

Ghost

I immediately assumed the worst... a fiery metal grinding automobile accident with injuries requiring trauma stabilization.

Still, I guess she can get hurt falling off a chair, but now I wonder if the life flight was an overreaction because she was politically connected.

Good to know she'll be alright.

on edit:
I read elsewhere that she was admitted to the ICU, so I guess it must have been touch and go for a while. She must have smacked her head pretty hard.
