Especially on this scale. 15 Fucking Senate Candidates?
As a long time political junkie and social progressive, it shocks the Hell out of me.

(40,216 posts)1. It is disturbing on many levels.
There is a part of me that sees this as a way for them to try to rationalize their misogyny and the way they view women. It is all very sick.

or surprised. They have nothing else.

(22,336 posts)3. It's a natural evolution of the anti-abortion argument
It has to go to this conversation. If you believe life starts at conception, and that the life started is more valuable than the woman whose body it is in, then things are going to get ugly.

Without rape, how could these assholes ever get laid?

(9,748 posts)6. Having grown up in the Bible Belt, no, I am not surprised at all.
In the Bible Belt girls are taught to always say "no". 40 years old, single and on your 5th date with the guy? "No". You can fuck him. But you have to tell him "no".
"I don't believe in sex outside of marriage. But I always seem to end up sleeping with a guy every time I get really drunk. Hey, you wanna come over to my place tonight and help me polish off a bottle of wine?"
The above was an actual quote (or close enough).
And there is a very good chance that after said encounter, she will claim he took advantage of her while she was drunk. Then ask him to come over next Friday and do it again.
If you've never lived in the Bible Belt this shit sounds unreal. But it is.
