Corbett blames Democrats and the media for ongoing criticism of his handling of Jerry Sandusky case

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/10/corbett_blames_democrats_and_t.html#incart_m-rpt-2

Gov. Tom Corbett defended his handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse investigation on Thursday by blaming the Democrats and the media for continued interest in why it took so long for officials to charge the former Penn State coach for molesting young boys.

It took more than two years after the first report of abuse to Corbett’s office for charges to be filed, which didn’t occur until after Corbett had won his campaign to be governor. The delay - and its effects on at least one of the victims - is detailed in a book recently published by the boy who made the original allegation.

Corbett’s critics - in both parties - allege he slowed the investigation so that it wouldn’t impact his ambition to be governor.

The question of why it took two years to file charges has also become an issue in the race for Attorney General. The bipartisan disaffection is perhaps best illustrated by the fact both candidates say they’d look into it if elected.

<<<<snip>>>>

The allegations stem primarily from the protracted delay and from the fact - confirmed by multiple sources - that for over a year after Corbett’s office got the case, there was only one State Trooper assigned to investigate the allegations. While Attorney General staffers were on the case, sources say other State Troopers didn’t join the investigation until after Corbett had won the primary and was heading into the general election with comfortable margins.

BOTH Pennsylvania AGs claim they would investigate how Tom Corbett handled the Sandusky case; however, I only trust the democrat Kathleen Kane of actually doing something about it.

Just to give you an idea of how bad Corbett was. Down in Delaware at the same time we had our own child-abuse case where a pediatrician had abused over 100 of his patients. Beau Biden gave up his chance to run for his dad's old Senate seat to ensure this case got followed thru to the end.

US Senator was only a replacement when Casey lost in the primaries to Rendell.

Only concern I have is this - if Casey runs and wins who picks his replacement? Technically Casey would have to resign BEFORE he takes office of Governor which means Corbett would pick the replacement and PA would be stuck with 2 republican senators.

personally, I think I'd still like to see Casey stay in the Senate. I most certainly like seeing him as senior Senator over Toomey any day.

This guy protected a serial rapist who was also a political crony. I actually don't know why the impeachment hasn't begun.

He has been there done that regarding running for office (he always deferred to other candidates after primaries) and had been Lt. Governor for a good chunk of time, so he has plenty of experience and name recognition. He's relatively "young" (currently 59) and being from Jonestown, has roots in a red/purple area of the state. Any Willie Horton style attack tried against him like Ridge did due to an old parole board issue, would be more than offset by the Sandusky mess.

We cannot lose a Senate seat trying to gat a governor and I think he could eviscerate Corbutt.

what's worse, that means for 11 months someone on the PSU Board of Trustees KNEW about this since PA Governors automatically gets a seat on the Board.

And when the victims come after PSU for their lawsuit I'm sure that little tidbit will come out. The Board has tried to claim they didn't know about it but it's bullshit since Corbett is on the board.

They don't get any slimier than Corbett. He's a crook and an asswipe. I'm getting tired of the coverage of the Penn State scandal, but Corbett's whining is, if anything, proof that he knows he was involved in the coverup. Fuck you, Corbett.

If he's not investigated at the state level, the feds need to do it.
