The report started off about Election Day and then they introduced a married couple who say they got an "unexpected voter registration card in the mail".
Long story short, one of their now-deceased mothers (died 2.5 yrs ago) was "sent" a voter registration card...they went on and on how they were "angry" that this could happen, and they had "heard" fraud happened and by gosh now it could have happened to the deceased mother, etc..
The county voter registration official said that if there is anyone who initially registered earlier than the 1970's then the county has "limited" information on those voters (no ss#, etc..) to see if they have died and they have to "err on the side of caution and leave them on the rolls"
And HOW does the report end..with the reporter saying "full disclosure here, the couple say that they are "REGISTERED REPUBLICANS" who are upset that potential fraud like this could happen and they believe in people having to show PICTURE ID in Texas". Then the reported added a teeny tiny blurb from a local Democratic Party official who said the percentage of any fraud is very, very small.
So while this outraged repuke couple got all the air time and full interview pushing " voter fraud" and need for ID pics here in Texas, the Democratic Party official got nothin' except 2 quoted sentences at the very end of the report and no air time.

(251 posts)Maybe they should be angry with themselves for not taking care of getting her affairs settles. I find it hard to believe this is the first time the election notice has been received so after the first time they should have notified someone.

(30,058 posts)Some else has just proven they need a lesson in civic matters. It would only be voter fraud if someone tried to vote for the deceased person. Did the couple attempt to notify the register of voters of their Mother's death, probably not but they had time to jump on a show and cry voter fraud.

(118,320 posts)... Bill Davis and his wife, who rarely miss an election, said they were excited when their received their cards in the mail. But there was an extra card -- one for Bill Davis' mother, Isabel. He said he was "just kind of disgusted -- typical bureaucrats" ... That's not good enough for Bill Davis. He said he wants to get his mother off the voter rolls. "I had to take it upon myself to notify Social Security, notify Medicare," he said. "I didn't think about notifying voter registration ...
