Michael Franti is a genuinely interesting guy who makes great music. Not a household name, but his last album and a few singles were pretty big hits.

you would never have heard his name. One other thing about him most people don't know. Ted Nugent of all people used him as a singer on his "Free For All" album. I have to admit I had heard of him before "Bat Out Of Hell" because of that. He did several pretty good songs on that album.

The first one from 1978 is legendary. An over-the-top masterpiece. There was a follow-up, Dead Ringer, that basically went nowhere. Meat Loaf and Steinman had a falling-out after that, and Loaf fell into obscurity for a few years.

In 1992, BOOH2 came out. Many of the songs featured were recycled Steinman castoffs. Not as classic and a bit long, but kinda fun to listen to. After that, they had another falling-out, then back to obscurity save for a role in "Fight Club".

A few years ago, Meat decided to try and make BOOH3, with no participation from Steinman, even though Meat rehashed a few songs he wrote for others (the first single was a song Steinman wrote for Celine Dion). The rest of the album was big-name songwriters, like Diane Warren, trying to sound like Steinman. Needless to say, it was a piece of crap.

Oh, and somewhere in there was a BOOH live album, proving that a carcass will never be completely picked clean.
