Romney has closed the gender gap in self-centered, selfish post-menopausal women.

And i know several.
They are upper-middle to upper 'class'.
I'd call them 'well-off to wealthy'.

In their world, rape is a very unlikely event.
And they can't get pregnant.
And they don't really give a rats ass about younger women who might be raped and get pregnant.
'Doesn't affect me, so why should I care?'

What they are worried about is their taxes going up.
Oh, and Obama is a Muslim socialist.
However, they are very careful NOT to mention race.
No, no, no.
But it's there.
I know it and so do they.

I realize the outrage is over rape victims being forced to give birth, but the fact is NO ONE should be forced to give birth.

I am 48 and I am DEFINITELY not one of the self centered, selfish assholes you mentioned! lol

I think these polls are bullshit -- yeah, maybe 20% of really OLD and really YOUNG women are totally stupid... but even that seems like a high number.

when she sees Rmoney on TV she says "I'd just like to smash his face in."
She's gettin' downright visceral.
We'll both be glad when this whole circus is over and Obama's back in for four more.
Gonna happen.

And, I say that as a white post-menopausal woman. I think they are over-sampling the South again. Ain't no way in hell that many women elsewhere have changed their minds about this creepy asshole. Especially given his nasty-ass performance in the second debate, and the Mourdock fiasco. Nope. No way.

One of these repug women of whom I speak had a situation where her daughter-in-law had an abortion.
It's a complicated tale (the kid would have had very severe birth defects) , but M-I-L was very happy that abortion was an option...FOR HER DAUGHTER-IN-LAW.

I was kind enough not to point out that if it weren't for Democrats that might not have been an option.

I'm not making it perjorative, but that is a fact of life for some seniors I know. That is the belief system of GOP voters that I've run into, both male and female.

Age is not a factor, but their determined lack of interest in anyone outside of their immediate family unit is the reason young and old vote GOP. There is active denial they ever got anything from anyone, and are strictly in it for themselves.

That is the problem that the OP is probably referring to, not sure why it's focusing on age unless the Mrs. put him up to it. I'm old, and am able to separate the difference.

Most of us (I'm 71) give a damn about our kids and grandkids.
It's the short-sighted ones who don't see that they have a hand in the game.

Many of us oldsters are the very ones who fought for women's rights and are astonished to see this same battle have to be fought again and without many women of all ages joining us. It's not an age issue. It's the relentless propaganda of right wing radio into the heartland and now everywhere and stealth candidates like Romney who lie about who they really are.

12. I ran into one young mother of two who described herself as a "Social Darwinist."

Her main deal is that she was in college for law school, working two jobs to support her two kids and pay whatever tuition she can, racking up over 100,000 in student loan debt, with no help from her deatbeat ex-husband because he has no job to pay child support, where the deadbeat has custody of her children because the court judge said that she isn't home to take care of the kids because she has multiple jobs but that the dad can because he's "stay at home."

She thinks that programs like Food Stamps and Medicaid (and I assume all the other big ones like Medicare, Social Security, etc.) delay the evolutionary process of a people getting stronger, and to get stronger, the weak should be allowed to fail and fall off. I couldn't help but think her ideology was everything but the swastikas. Oh sure, I'm not putting a bullet in their heads; I'm just cutting off aid.

She was so far off to the authoritarian right that I really couldn't say much to her. If I were in her shoes, I'd go out for as many social programs as possible, hell yes. If I pay taxes into social programs, I shouldn't have to feel ashamed to draw upon them in a time of need. The stigma of being on public assistance seemed writ large on her mind, and she was boasting how proud she was not to be on public assistance despite it all.

I mean, I hope her future is going to be a bright one. She's studying to be an attorney, possibly land a DA position. I just think that her ideology is a total reaction to her circumstance and that if she hadn't had those two kids or been with such a loser of a husband, she wouldn't have become as cold as stone as she is.

She's most definitely voting for Romney.

and I had a bad feeling about what the politics would be like. Every other house has a RMoney sign in the front yard, the rest are empty. I can't figure out if they are Obama or just not saying. But they are all $100-300K household income ranges, mostly 45 and up. Thankfully there are a couple hippies next door for us to have beers with.

And she made SURE to sound all Jesusey and Romney-loving. And please waste lots of money sending her campaign literature.

She's a Democrat and Jesus-free. Monkey wrenching is a fine old tradition. Her friends were doing, too.
