Sometimes I think we forget how good we have it now and how many before us suffered and how hard previous generations had to fight to make it better.

She was never able to have a baby after that. A girl I went to school with bled to death after an abortion in the cellar of a house in another town. A young man on a farm where we used to get our eggs was born blind and mentally challenged after his mother used a coat hanger to try to end her unwed pregnancy. Her parents cared for him until their death and she moved to another state in order to live a normal life. That was in the 1950's when a child born out of wedlock was a total disgrace.

We do not want to go back to those times.
