Letter to all my politicians.

I have sent this letter to every single person asking for my vote, or who will when they are up for election.

Dear (Insert Politician's name)

None of you seem to want to have a real conversation about the economic realities at my kitchen table. Instead you want to talk about rape and abortion and God and Christmas and gay people and guns. Well I would like to know how you have time to even think about such things when you still have not fixed the problems that create economic situations like mine.

I work 50-70 hrs a week and make WELL below the median wage. I am not college material, I don't have the ability to start my own business, but I will work my butt off for someone with a vision and the ability to pay for my services.

I took a 30% pay cut in 2008 to keep my job. In the 4 years since the couple who signs my check have bought a yacht, paid off $Millions in property mortgages more than 10 years ahead of schedule. They are setting themselves up for a cushy retirement at my expense. So I have gone looking for a new job. It would seem the other job creators are busy doing the same thing. They all basically want free labor - and why shouldn't they? They get it in China.

I have no retirement savings because out of necessity and despite my best efforts to save, in the end I live at the edge of my means. It's all I can to not use credit cards to pay for surprise expenses...... like my husband's heart bypass deductibles and copayments or 4 new tires and car windows after the driver in front of me lost a load of lumber and did not have proper insurance.

While you busy yourself blabbering on about what qualifies as a real rape or how marriage is somehow diminished if we let a couple gay guys exchange rings I'm busying myself with wondering what I'll do if I get sick and can't work for awhile or how I'll pay the co-payments. Or losing sleep because I noticed a dark spot on the ceiling near the chimney the last time it rained.

So please. Stop spending your time on things that aren't going to make any difference at all in most people's lives and get busy doing your damn job. If you don't I'm going to vote to fire you.

Respectfully,
SmileyRose
