Hurricane Sandy's center sitting right on top of my house at 2pm on Tuesday. No hurricane made landfall in NJ for over 100 years. Now this will occur two years in a row. Oh, but it will only be a tropical storm by then.(I feel so much better) NJ used to be such a calm weather place to live before climate change.

Christie has been in office for two years right??

(2,419 posts)Christie lives 2 miles from my house. So the center of the storm is probably headed for his house and I'm just an innocent bystander. And for how long he's been in office- that would be too long, not two years!
Seriously though, this doesn't look to be a fun couple of days around here.

(1,896 posts)If the storm follows the track that the graphic shows, it will make landfall around Barnegat Inlet. The storm surge will affect everything from Island Beach north.

(1,896 posts)but I definitely don't live far enough away that it will make any difference. At least you're on high enough ground that you won't be flooded out. Trees might be a different story.

When we get hail storms in Texas my wife comes to the garage and asks, you just going to sit there and watch the storm? I'm like, yep LOL
got a beer and the radio and a good storm, I'm at peace with the World

(2,419 posts)In the 25 years I've lived here we've had remnants of tropical storms and hurricanes pass over. Hurricane Floyd was an incredible rain maker when it came by. I go looking for thunderstorms whenever I can. However, last year I had a funnel cloud go over my house and clip the tops off of a 30 yd wide swath of trees in May. We got a direct hit from Irene in late August . Then we had 18" of heavy wet snow on still leafed out trees in October. It took 11 days to get my power (along with my heat & water) back and two weeks non-stop with a chain saw and a wood chipper to clean up. I was sitting in the dark and cold next to the fireplace listening to Ohio high school football on a crank up radio at night. This is NJ for cryin out loud. Who knows what surprises Sandy holds for us.
