To those who assume the Republicans would never actually overturn Roe v Wade

And yes we have them here. They're also among the more moderate Republicans in the world (and there are some moderate Republicans.)

Listen to their abortion discussions. It's all about what exceptions there would be to abortion being illegal, if any. It is such a given that it will be overturned that they've moved past that and have moved on to what happens after it's overturned.

And for those who say the President doesn't have that power so don't worry about it, think about who decides who is on the Supreme Court, and what power the Supreme Court has.

(This is more for lurkers I guess. Hopefully most people here KNOW THIS already.)

That it is the Republicans GOTV tactic and if abortion were to become illegal, they wouldn't have anything to rally their base around.

Mainly, I've heard it around Facebook and Tumbler. I've posted this there as well.

It seems obvious, however, that Roe v Wade will be gone soon if Romney wins.

As long as he is the CJ I'm 99% sure RvW is safe, and yes I do trust him.

On the one hand, I suspect they would like to get rid of R v W. On the other, their party would lose one of their key carrots-on-a-stick (Umm... "carrot-on-a-sticks"... "carrots-on-sticks"? ) that they use to keep so much of their base aligned with the RW in spite of conflicts of self-interest. Then what would they do?
