Indianapolis Star: Richard Mourdock hunts running room after rape comment draws fire
let it be known, mr romney is still running an ad supporting mourdock in indiana
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Republican Senate nominee Richard Mourdock is trying to get his campaign back on track today though his comments on rape and abortion continue to roil both his campaign and that of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Among the latest developments:
-- Today in Tampa, Fla., President Barack Obama said voters saw again this week why male politicians shouldn't be making health care decisions for women.
The president didn't mention Mourdock by name. He said, as long as he is president, women will be able to make their own health care decisions. It's the first time Obama has referenced Mourdock's comments at a campaign rally, The Associated Press said.
-- Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who had campaigned in Indianapolis for Mourdock recently, said this morning he continued to support him. McCain indicated Tuesday his support was contingent on an apology. This morning, McCains press secretary, Brian Rogers, said McCain is glad that Mr. Mourdock apologized to the people of Indiana and clarified his previous statement. Sen. McCain hopes the people of Indiana will elect Mr. Mourdock to the U.S. Senate.http://www.indystar.com/article/20121025/NEWS0502/121025016/Richard-Mourdock-hunts-running-room-after-rape-comment-draws-fire?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|IndyStar.com
